Dr. David J Kyle is the Executive Chairman and CSO of Evolve Biosystems Inc., a spin-off of the Foods for Health Institute of the University of California at Davis. He was the founder of Martek Biosciences whose DHA and ARA products are now found in virtually all infant formulas around the world. In 2011, Martek was acquired by DSM for $1.2B. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Alberta, Canada. He was inducted into the US Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2009 for his contributions to science and industry.

He is the CEO of Finnoflag Oy, established in 1993. He has conducted more than 100 R&D projects for different industries. He is also the Vice President of the International Society of Environmental Indicators, whose 22nd global conference he chaired in summer 2017.

His research has focused on the inhibition of anti-cancer drugs, especially natural compounds, on cancer growth with emphasis on angiogenesis and apoptosis.Dr. Chen is the recipient of the Faculty of the Year Award in 2013. He was also the featured professor in the 2013 spring issue of the Neuron: West Virginia Journal of Science and Research.
